I left my camera in Rome

In my early morning departure from Hotel Selene, I left my camera somewhere, perhaps in the breakfast room or taxi or airport. Of course I am praying to St. Anthony and have called and emailed the hotel, called the taxi company, emailed the airport, police and Rome Lost and Found. Anything else I can do? It was in a blue-gray case. It is a Canon SX20. The memory card has photos of Rome, Assisi, Scotland and England. I never got to download the photos from Rome and Assisi. I love Assisi. Great train ride from Rome. I didn't realize the mountains were so abundant in Italy. The snow-capped ridges were beautiful.

I feel your pain. My camera fell from my pack while I was hiking in Switzerland. No one saw it fall, but one member of our group who was walking about 100 meters behind, saw it, picked it up, but didn't see any ID so he set it back down on the trail!!! I did not learn that until the next day and it was too late to go back. Now I keep a business card with email address and phone# in my case.

John, I suspect that whether you get the Camera back will depend mostly on where you left it. If it's in the Hotel, they'll likely return it. In the airport, possibly. In the Taxi, I doubt it. Miracles do happen in situations like this, so I hope you'll get get it back. This is perhaps a good reminder to all that backing up photos on a daily basis is a good idea! Good luck!

I have a Galaxy tab and I haven't figured out how to download photos from my camera to the tablet. But I could have used another computer and downloaded them to a USB flashdrive. I even thought about doing that. Just didn't get to it. I will definitely do that or something like that in the future. Thanks.

Hi John. I'm sorry about your camera. Losing my camera is one of my fears when I travel. I put my name, mailing address, e-mail address, and cell phone number on an index card and photograph the card. I take one photo for each memory card. If God forbid I lose my camera, the finder has a way to contact me.

John... that can be heartbreaking. Hopefully somehow you will get it back, but in case you don't ...were you travling alone? If you were with other people I would ask them for their images if they are willing to share and just add them to your photos. Lots of times people take photos of the same things. If you were alone I would go on the internet and see if there are some free files you can download that will keep those memories alive for you in the years to come.

Good suggestion, Terry. Thanks. I was only with my wife so I do not have the option you first suggest but I sure can upload photos from the internet.
