I am looking for a cooking class (one day) in the Siena area

Does anyone know of a traditional cooking class taught in the Tuscany area? Is there an agriturismo that offers cooking classes. We haven't booked our stay in that area yet, thought maybe I could combine the two. We will be there in September.

The closest to Siena I am aware of for a one day cooking class is Colle val d'Elsa. Judy Witts Francini has her Divina Cucina school there www.divinacucina.com. Judy used to have this school in Florence but moved it to Colle val d'Elsa a couple of years ago.

Thank you for your suggestion. I looked up the website and it looks great but may be a little too pricey at €200 per person for us.

Karen, surprise! That's a good price for a 1-day class. My wife and I took a 1-day class from Scoula de Arte Culinaria Cordon Bleu in Florence a few years ago. The class was 468Euro for two. The cooking classes are not inexpensive.

Cooking classes are never going to be all that cheap unless you have a big group and less than interesting ingredients.
The classes at Cook Eat Italian here Florence Cooking Classes seem to be at a good medium -small class sizes yet not too expensive (under 100 euros per person). I guess if you are travelling from southern Tuscany you'll also have to factor in a train or bus ticket.

Thank you Simon, I looked at that one and it seems interesting. We will be spending two nights in Florence as well so that might work. Friends of mine did a tour and stayed at a farm and had their cooking class right there but it was over by Assisi and we will not be in that area. I was hoping to find something in Tuscany with the same concept.

My husband and I took a cooking class in Cortona. Alessandra Federici's Cucina Cooking School. You actually meet Alessandra in Cortona around 10am, go shopping in the local shops buying all the ingrediants needed, then are taken to her house. There were 6 of us in the class and I think we all participated in preparing and cooking a 5 or 6 course menu with wine throughout the day. I think we were dropped back off in Cortona around 8 pm. Lots of interesting converstions, and best of all, learned how to make home made pasta! Plus we were provided a binder with all the menus we learned how to cook for the day. It was pricy but well worth it. Here's the web site:
