Hydrofoil vs Ferry Sorrento to Capri

For those who are prone to seasickness, what will you suggest to take from Sorrento to Capri? I am planning on taking either one for my trip in mid September. I don't have problems with larger motorized boats where you can hardly feel the water.
Unfortunately, seasickness medications do not work so well on me. Thanks!

The hydrofoil is always smoother but it if the sea is high because of bad weather the hydrofoil do not always runs so you stuck with the ferry. The ferries are fairly large but don't know if that would help you or not.

We took the ferry from Sorrento to Capri, it is not a boat, it is a ship about 200 feet long and unless the weather is really foul, you won't feel anything. With regard to to medications not working for you I would suggest that you stop by a large drug store or a marine supply outlet like West Marine and pick up some wrist bands that work on a pressure point on the wrist. My wife has found them to be very effective and we have had very good results running what was essentially a blind test on her mother. The cool thing about the wrist bands is that, unlike medication, they work if you put them on when you already are feeling the start of motion sickness.

My husband tends to get motion sickness and we did the ferry both ways with no problems. As long as he is outside and standing he's OK. I don't remember any serious movements due to water, so you are probably good. The ferry is about the same as the Larkspur SF GG Ferries. So if you are good on the Bay Area ferries, you should be OK with the Sorrento/Capri ferries.

I have seasickness too and was concerned about this boat trip as well. I was there in early April, and there were only 2 ferries a day ( very large ships) going from Sorrento to Capri, whereas hydrofoils were going almost hourly, if I remember correctly. I did not want to wait 3 hours for the ferry, so took the next available hydrofoil. It was small and very fast, I went up on the outside deck and stood in the back looking either forward or towards the back and trying not to move the head from side to side. There was no problem and the ride was only 20 minutes or so. I did take meclizine 30 minutes before.
