Hydrofoil from Peschiera to Limone

If you are familiar with the Aliscafo (hydrofoil) that leaves from Peschiera, I'd like your advice on the timing of this trip. I will be staying in Desenzano in July and plan to take the train to Peschiera, then take the hydrofoil to Limone. There is a slower 'battello' leaving from Desenzano, but I'd rather go on the hydrofoil since it's much faster. My problem is this: if the train arrives in Peschiera at 8:00 am, will I have enough time to get to the hydrofoil which leaves at 8:25 am? I'm not sure how far the hydrofoil dock is from the train station. I will buy my ticket (day pass including faster service 34 euros) in advance so I won't need to factor in time to buy tickets. Perhaps Roberto or Ken may have answers? Grazie!

Susan,

If everything goes according to plan and the trains are on schedule, that should be enough time to connect with the 08:25 Aliscafo departure (that will be the first run of the day, and as I recall they're based in Peschiera). The Catamarans are also reasonably fast, but not quite as fast as the Hydrofoils.

When I was in Peschiera in September, I timed the walk from the boat dock to the station at about 13 minutes (but that assumes knowing the way of course). When you exit the station at Peschiera, there are typically one or two Taxis waiting there, so that's the method I'd suggest (hopefully there will be at least one there when you arrive). If not you could perhaps walk to Hotel Garden which is right there, and ask them to call a Taxi for you. I used Taxi's a number of times during my stay, and always seemed to get the same driver (a very nice woman). A Taxi would be prudent as you'll need a few minutes to buy the boat ticket (if you're paying in cash, be sure you get the correct change).

The Hydrofoils have seating on two floors. I found that "downstairs" wasn't as crowded although in July both floors may be packed. There's a bit of a "shudder" when the wing is rising out of the water or descending, but aside from that they're quite smooth.

Buon Viaggio!
