How would you base yourself Sicily

Hi Everyone,
After a week in Campania we will spending a week in Sicily and I would like some suggestion on where to base ourselves for day trips. We will arrive at Catania airport on Aug 30 12pm and leaving Sept 7 Palermo airport 8am. That would give me 6 full day minus travel days. We will have a car upon arrival and drop it off either the day before or drop box it in the morning of the 7th.
I know it not a lot of time but here are some of the area that we would like to see:

Mount Etna, Taormina, Catania and if possible Syracuse/Ortigia
Agrigento/ Valley of the Temple
Trapani, Erice, Segesta, Palermo and if possible Cefalu

What we are interested in doing is walking/seeing POI in the city and eating local not really going to museums don't want to feel rushed.

Eleven stops in six days without feeling rushed does not seem realistic, even with a car.

You might consider two bases, Catania and Palermo, and daytrip to Siracusa and Taormina from Catania.

Then drive to Cefalu on the way to Palermo. Long daytrip to Agrigento from Palermo, shorter daytrip to Erice and Trapani.

Thanks for the reply Zoe, I didn't mean I would pack and move for each location. I found a nice AirBnB in Nicolosi that I am thinking about when visiting the east side of Sicily. I am just not sure where is a good city to stay on the west side to visit Agrigento and the others. All I have read about Palermo is that I should not have a car.

By "stops", I didn't mean you would be staying there, just visiting some of them as daytrips. Some hotels have on-site parking in Palermo.
