We will be in Rome in June (16-20) and wanted to tour the Borghese Gallery. I noticed in Ricks book that he reccomended using the Roma Pass which works at the Borghese and is greatly discounted. Yet... it is also reccomended that I make a reservation. How do I use the Roma pass, which I will purchas once I arrive in Rome and still make a reservation at the Gallery? Rick's book talks about the difficulty in phone calling. Is there a place on line where I can make reservations without having to pay for it on line?
Thank you for your advice. I went to the reservation web site that you suggested and it only would allow resrvations through May 18th. Is there a limit how far in advance they let you make reservations?
Yes, there is... the page refreshes and then new dates open up, but it seems somewhat random. If you need dates further down the road, you can call the ticket office direct at:
+39 06 32810
From the US, dial 011 39 06 32810. Do remember that Rome is 6 hours ahead of EST in the US! Also tomorrow, Friday 4/25, everthing here in Rome is closed for the holiday weekend! You may be able to contact them Saturday at the earliest, but better perhaps on Monday! Good Luck!
Erin - here's the official site for the Villa Borghese Gallery.
http://www.galleriaborghese.it/borghese/en/edefault.htm
You can get info there or go directly to this site for online reservastions:
http://www.ticketeria.it/ticketeria/borghese-regolamento-eng.asp
You CAN DO this online, up to 4 tickets I think. I've called or reserved online for friends. Remember, you are just seeking the ticket reservations - NOT buying tickets... make sure you choose the corrct "button" and then head for the Museum about 1/2 hour before your scheduled time!
Hope this helps - Good Luck!
Ciao,

The Roma Pass grants you free admission to your first two choices; thereafter, it offers a percentage off others. I used it for the Borghese Gallery and Colosseum about two weeks ago. I made reservations for the Borghese Gallery by phone as I couldn't do it online. The dates offered online never seemed to change. If you call remember the time difference. When I arrived at the Borghese I expected to pay the reservation fee, but was told that this too was covered by the Roma Pass. As for the Colosseum, don't stand in the line for people buying tickets. I stood in the line to the left and an attendant standing there told me to just go on through the turnstile.
