how to use discount code

I searched, but couldn't find this. Planning on staying in Venice in October and looking at a number of places from the guidebook that have RS%. When I enter RS% in the promo code line of the hotel (ex. Hotel Campiello) it says no such code exists. What am I doing wrong? Is there some mystery code?

I believe you have to contact the hotel directly (by phone or email) to determine their process to apply the discount.
