How to get to Termini from Trastevere

I'll be staying in Trastevere (near Santa Maria) and will need to get to Termini to catch my train and will have a suitcase with me. What's the best way to get there? TIA!

I'm headed to the train station to leave Rome. Looking for the best way to get from the hotel to Termini.

Have hotel call a taxi. This is not complicated. There is a train station in Trastevere and you could take a local train to Termini but the taxi is easier.

Thanks, Diane. I appreciate the friendly response.

I was just wondering if it was worth the cost of a taxi or if the walk, with luggage, was generally doable.

To me it would depend on how far you are from the train station. I didn’t look up the area you mentioned, just train station to termini.
I did this a year ago and had no problem.

A taxi without traffic is about 10 minutes and less than 20 USD.

If you have luggage, the taxi is the way to go. Have the hotel staff call one for you unless you are walking distance from a taxi stand. 15€ is the approximate fare for that distance.

The suggestion to take a taxi from in front of the Trastevere Station isn't helpful to you because that's at the south end of TV and you're staying at the north end, near Santa Maria (as you said). Definitely do a taxi, as suggested above. If you aren't staying at a hotel, then tell us more specifically where you're staying, and we can tell you if there is a taxi rank nearby. The taxi ranks can be very convenient. And yes, about 15 euros to get to Termini.

To take the train to Termini, you would need to take the #8 tram to the Trastevere train station and then a train to Termini. An easier solution by public transportation would be to take the H bus that goes from just before the bridge across the Tiber (an easy walk from Santa Maria area) to Termini with no changes required. Termimi is its last stop, so no worries about where to get off. With a large piece of luggage, a taxi could be a good choice. There's a taxi stand in the small piazza right by where the H bus (and tram) stop, or you could call for one to pick you up at your lodgings. Lots of good options. Just choose the one that's best for you.

We stayed in Trastevere this summer and used the taxis at the stand right by the Ponte Sisto bridge which was close to our apartment and Santa Maria in Trastevere. We usually paid about 10-15€ to go most everywhere across Rome from the taxi stand to the destination.
