How to get to Rome from Positano (tomorrow!)?

Hi all, looks like scattered thunderstorms and concern over a train strike for my trip to Rome tomorrow.

Originally I was going to take the ferry to Salerno and then the train to Rome. Now, not so sure.

Advice? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Are you sure there's a strike tomorrow (July 23rd), and are you sure it would affect trains from Salerno or Naples? I might be missing something but I'm not seeing anything listed on the Trenitalia website for Monday.

If you HAD to get there without trains/ferries, there are probably multiple ways to do it although none of them as fast/convenient. For instance, the Marozzi bus runs from Sorrento to Rome tomorrow at both 6:00 AM (probably not an option) and 5:00 PM. You'd have to take a SITA bus or hire a driver/taxi to Sorrento if the ferries aren't running.

If the trains are running, you can take SITA (or private driver) to Salerno or Sorrento and trains from either one. You'd have to take the local Circumvesuviana from Sorrento and change to high-speed in Naples.

Also, a thunderstorm alone may not affect the ferries. It all depends on the amount of wind speed/wave activity.

Thank you. How crowded is a typical SITA bus early Monday morning from Positano to Salerno?

That might be the safest and most economical bet being that it seems the weather could be bad around the time of the first ferry out tomorrow (10am).

Sorry, no idea. Ask your hotel or a tourist info center.
