My husband and I will be in Sirmione the end of April. We would like to visit both the Santuario Madonna Della Corona and Trento, preferably in one day. I’d love any ideas of the best way to do this. So far I see us taking the ferry from Sirmione to Garda and then two buses to Spiazzi. After exploring the church we’d take a bus and a train to Trento. Coming back we’d travel by train to Desenzano via Verona. Is that correct? Is there an alternative using public transportation?
OR should we rent a car for the day? That is going to take some convincing to get my husband on board; he has a mental block against driving in Italy. (We’ve never done it, but I’m game.) Is it possible to pick up a car in Garda or Sirmione? Would a day’s rental be cost prohibitive? How intimidating is it to drive in this area of Italy? Is this area heavily ladened with ZTL zones?
Thanks for your advice.
