How to get from mainland Italy to Palermo?

I am trying to decide the best route to get to Palermo.

I am flying from Canada and there are no direct flights to Sicily, so I could either go first to Zurich (family there) or fly directly to Italy. Would appreciate any input.

Fly from Zurich to Palermo
Rome to Palermo
Naples to Palermo

I am open to any other suggestions. I have been in Rome and loved it, so I wouldn't mind a few days:) Thanks in advance.

The most flights are from Rome with ITA or Ryanair, although Naples has a few options as well (Easyjet, Ryanair, Volotea).

From Zurich you can fly to PMO non stop with Swiss.

If you fly there coming from Canada then ITA (via Rome), Lufthansa/AirCanada (via Frankfurt or Munich) or Swiss/AirCanada (via Zurich) may be the best options.

Your choice.
