How to get from Cortona to Montepulciano

We'll be visiting Cortona in March and won't have a car. Any suggestions on how to get to Montepulciano on a Sunday? Thanks!!!

Bus from Cortona down the hill to the Camucia-Cortona train station.
Then take any Regionale train headed south and get off at Chiusi-Chianciano Terme station.
At the Chiusi station there are buses going up to the town of Montepulciano.
On Sunday the bus service is very limited, so if you can, go on a weekday.
A car of course would be best, because it’s only a 40 min drive vs a couple hours otherwise.

Thanks for your response! I know Sunday is a bad day for travel but it’s the only day we can do it.

Check with the TI office in Cortona for the Sunday bus schedule to the train station. They also sell bus tickets.

I took the bus from Montepulciano to Chiusi on a Sunday and, consistent with what my hotel told me when I inquired at the time of booking, buses were running more frequently than I would have anticipated. There might not be the weekday bus waiting to meet the train, but your wait shouldn't be ridiculously long.
