how to get car to venice marco polo airport

Is it possible to drive a car to the marco polo airport? And if it is.... How long should it take to get to the marco polo airport from the venice town center.

Yes you can drive to Marco Polo airport. No you can't drive from "venice town center". What you'd have to call "town center" although I've never heard it called that, is St Marks Square. It is only accessible to boats and walkers because of the canals and bridges.

The only place you can have a tourist car on the main Venice islands is the Tronchetto parking garage. I believe that there may also be an adjacent parking garage as well. That's it. From there, you can drive about 20 minutes to the Marco Polo airport. You can also take either of two different airport buses that run regularly between the airport and the Piazzale Roma which is adjacent to the parking garages.

Leave the car somewhere BEFORE you get to Venice. Enjoy Venice as it should be enjoyed, then take public transportation or a water taxi to the Venice airport on the day of your flight. Cars are useless and a pain in the rear in Venice.

danielle, I agree with a previous suggestion to drop the car BEFORE you get to Venice. You won't need a car there, so there's no sense in paying for the car and parking. I'm assuming that's your last stop since you asked about the airport? Once in Venice you'll be getting around by Vaporetti or walking. For your trip to the airport, using the Alilaguna service is probably the most cost effective (Water Taxis are possible, but they tend to be expensive). Happy travels!
