I'm interested in staying at the Hotel Alma Domus in Siena, but I can't find out how to reserve a room. Rick's book lists a phone number, but says no one speaks English. I've tried all the hotel booking sites, but it doesn't show up. Anyone stay there? How did you book your room?

A few suggestions that might help. You might send an E-mail to the RS office and ask if they can provide an Italian version of the "Hotel Reservation" form (page 850 in the 2008 book). Fill in the blanks using the European date method and 24-hour time, and FAX that to Alma Domus. They will hopefully reply to that?
Although I can function to some extent in Italian, I wouldn't be absolutely sure of the correct grammar and spelling, but some of Rick's staff are fluent. Do you know anyone in your area that speaks Italian? You could always try one of the Italian language schools, as they may be willing to help (for a small fee). There are LOTS of them listed on the net!
If you don't have any success with Alma Domus, I'd highly recommend Albergo Bernini (the Son speaks english). They usually require a personal check for deposit, but basically it's a very easy procedure. The view from their breakfast patio is incredible, and so is the coffee!

We are staying at the Hotel Alma Domus in July and had no problem in using their website. Once you click into English you can click the reservation button, fill in the information and they will respond if they have rooms available. Had no problem with their english in the response.
