I am starting the AV2 trek alone from Bressanone/Brixen on 8/25 and meeting friends at Malga Ciapela on 8/30 for remainder of the trek. We want to join Club Alpine Italian in order to enjoy the member discount at several of the rifugios along the way. It does not appear that I can do so online. Does anyone have information on whether and when I can join in or around Bressanone?

Basically, you have to address a local section of CAI and ask them to be admitted. Yearly fee should be around eur 45. Explaination (in Italian) at http://www.cai.it/index.php?384
