How steeply hilly is Spello

I'm planning to stay in Spello for a few days, and we will be staying in an older part of town. We have mostly older parts too and a few new ones, so walking down steep hills vexes us. For example, we could not wander the Alfama in Lisbon, but Porto was just fine.

Please advise.

It can be a workout. We were there last month (April) and managed okay without any significant issues. I'm a 15,000 step a day guy, but my wife hates long walks/hills and she didn't really complain about the ups and downs of Spe!lo.

BTW, if you get the chance, Osteria del Buchetto, via Cappuccini 19, is well worth a visit.

SamA, were there any options - bus or taxi to go from the train station up to the edge of town?

Jean, When we first arrived at the Spello train station, we caught a taxi to town. Spello Taxi 334-5704218 and www.spellotaxi.it. Once we got our bearings, we could comfortably walk from the edge of Spello near the Porto Consolare to the train station - about 15 minutes and flat - for daytripping trains. One tip: there is just one ticket machine at the station (and no walkup ticket staff) and it wouldn't take my credit card, so have cash if ticket purchases are needed.

I noticed a little mini-bus making rounds in town, but never took it. So I'm not sure of the frequency/cost/stops.
