How much time to allow

Phew. :) I think I really am going to make it to Italy. I leave on Friday/arrive Rome on Saturday early. Help you wonderful travelers you…..I need to get a bus to go to Abruzzo and wondered….how much time should I allow to go through what I need to in which to get out of the airport? It is helpful as there are only a few times for the bus. If not I will make other arrangements. So grateful for your help.

Are you checking bags? I rarely do and would not anticipate being in the airport more than 20 minutes.

Are you arriving from the USA?

If yes, twenty minutes is more hopeful than practical. You have to go through immigration and who knows what else with Covid. And then assuming your plane will be on time. That's one of the problems of making transportation arrangements on arrival day....too many variables.

Deplaning is quick as in any US flight, but passport control lines vary depending on how many international flights arrive simultaneously. Baggage claim will slow you down 30 min on average. But the biggest unknown is whether the flight arrives on time in the first place.

Given all these unknowns, I wouldn’t buy the bus tickets ahead of time, just get them when you get to the bus. I’ve never pre-purchased bus tickets in Italy.
