How much time for Puglia?

We're planning a trip to Italy in September and we have a few days to see Puglia. My husband wants to see Lecce in particular. We're thinking of going from Naples to Bari, following the coast to Brindisi and continuing on to Lecce and then returning to Naples. (From there were flying Naples to Palermo)
1. Is there good public transportation for this circle tour or would it be best to rent a car?
2. Would 2 or 3 days be sufficient?

Rent a car. I guess it could be done in three days but it is sad that you miss so much of the area.

To cross it off your bucket list, yes. To really enjoy it, no.

Lecce is wonderful. But to truly enjoy Puglia you need to venture out of Lecce and see both coasts of the "boot". I suggest Galliopoli and Otranto. Both not far from Lecce.

Hi Carol

We were in Puglia last July and it is a stunning part of Italy with many small, picturesque towns, great food and quenchable wine!

A good friend is from Lecce and so we arranged our trip to coincide with her being home. She showed us round her home city and can testify to it being beautiful and well worth a visit.

We would definitely recommend hiring a car to visit other towns such as Alberobello, Matera, Polignano a Mare and Otranto.
