How much money will two people need per day in Italy?

My partner and I will be travelling to Italy in June this year for approx 3 weeks (just over) and I need to know approx how much I should budget for the two of us per day. The following is already paid for: accomodation, flights, interstate travel, tours, about half our breakfasts, and some inner city transport. We will being going to Naples, Rome, Florence, and Venice. The money will be for food, entrance fees, souvenirs, transport etc. I have estimated about 200 euro per day for both of us. Will this be enough for a comfortable trip? We are young and don't mind keeping to a budget but want to be able to lash out a bit when we are there. I am sure that there will be days when we don't spend this amount and others when we do. Any advice from experienced people would be very welcome.

It looks like 90% of your trip is already paid for so I would say that 200 euro per day is over kill. You could get by on half that.

Would be way over my budget as well... With most everything paid (unless you have lots of entrances fees to pay) that seems like a pretty extravagant budget.
So over 3 weeks... 200 euros per day is over 4200 euros...I could do some serious shopping on that. It would definitely be enough for me. (I'd be scrimping and saving for the next trip)

If you already have your accomodations and flights, and even some breakfasts paid for you will be completely fine on 200 euro a day. Let's say each of you want to eat for 10 euro a lunch, and 20 euro for dinner (you could definitely get by on less, this will make it comfortable) then that's around 60 euro a day for food. Transport won't cost too much, entrance fees are not outrageous either. You will have plenty of money to do some shopping! Check out the shops in Rome and Florence, the markets in Florence. You'll definitely enjoy your trip on that type of budget, you will have plenty of money.

Thanks for your help. I am the sort of person who likes to over budget cos you never know what's going to happen when you are away. As I said, I want to be able to splash out on a nice dinner here and there, venetian masks, and other items found only in Italy. I'm not the sort of person to be tempted into spending lots of money. So what we don't use I will bring back home.

Congrats on being realistic! Most believe 25% of that is possible. While you certainly can do much less, and I have, don't under budget for site entry fees and for no other country, your food budget. Yes...you can have very cheap meals/wine but if you don't mind spending a few euros you can have dinner/wine of a lifetime. Brunello and Tartufo Nero are worth your reasonable budget alone.

I know is this off-topic but you mentioned Venetian masks. We have purchased one on each of our trips to Venice. Great souvenirs that we cherish. A high quality one can set you back 100 euros. The ones we've purchased are around 30 euro. Venice is fantastic.

Thanks everyone for your advice. We can go now with the peace of mind knowing that we will have plenty of cash to use if we desire. It's our first time travelling to Europe and I have to say I am so excited. Great new about the masks, I was not sure how much they went for and I have budgeted for about 300 euro to get some nice ones. my other big spend will be in the leather markets in Florence, where I want to get a few items.
