How does our itinerary look in general? Our 12-14 day trip from May 29th-June 10th or 12th (with two days extra for travel) looks like this: Aviano AFB (4 days) NOTE: Staying with my sister and her family while they are there as he's USAF. Drive to... Venice (2 days) train to... CT (2 days) train to... Rome (4 days). That's a total of 12 days. The added two would be to stop in Siena/Florence/other. This will be for my wife and myself. Looks reasonable. CT is an area and not a city or town. Are you dropping a car in Venice? You other question about Venice does make a lot of sense.

If stopping in Florence, do Siena as a day trip from Florence, done very easily by bus. Reason is train connections from Florence are shorter and less expensive than from Siena
