How much does it cost to ride on the public boat around Venice? Is there a one-day or two-day pass we can buy? If so, where?
Also, how much does it cost to go from Venice to other nearby island, like Burano?

Hannah, you really need to buy a guidebook like Rick Steves' Italy 2018, which is available here: https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/italy-guidebook
In the alternative, go to the top of the page and click on the "Search" box and type in Venice, vaporetto, cost, and see how many articles have been written about this subject.

The multiple-day vaporetto passes are great. Upon arrival, I buy one to coincide with the number of days I'll be there at the ticket booth in front of the train station and more than get my money's worth. Passes cover travel to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello, and they're great for exploring Venice. If I get lost (which is part of the fun), I get on a vaporetto, go back to a familiar place and start again. Note that you must "touch" your pass each time you board a vaporetto. Time starts with the first "touch" and ends the specified number of hours later.

I don’t think you can buy a vaporetto pass online. We bought ours at the Hello Venezia ticket office right outside Santa Lucia’s train station.
