How much is a private driver of taxi from hotel near Piazza Navona to Sorrento hotel

I'm looking for approximate price for a taxi/private driver (need company suggestions) to drive from my hotel(near Piazza Novena) to Sorrento hotel. I'm having trouble e-mailing our hotel so far, but need to begin search about pricing. Thanks:) B

Approximately €450 (US$500) for 3.5 to 4 hours journey.

If you use the train the cost is:
- Taxi from Piazza Navona to Termini station: 15€
- High speed train to Naples: 48€ per person full walk in price (but up to 50% discount if purchased online in advance).
- Circumvesuviana commuter train from Naples to Sorrento:6€ per person
(If you prefer a private car from Naples Central station to Sorrento, the cost is under 100€).

The time of travel using trains is a bit less, as the high speed train is really fast compared to a car.

I wouldn’t consider a private car transfer unless there are at least 3 people traveling together.

I took a private taxi from Naples to Sorrento and the cost was E100 - arranged through my hotel. Taking the two trains is much less expensive but the Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento looks pretty bad as graffiti covered.

There are further options:
Option A train to Naples and the fast ferry from Naples to Sorrento;
Option B Marozzi bus from Rome - takes 4 hours but guaranteed a seat and you don't have to change buses - leave from Roma Tiburtina train station at 700 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Lots of info on the internet - good luck

€340. Get the quote from Sorrentocars.

That's a Good price, but the Train&Bus combo ticket offered by Italotreno would be faster, more comfortable and cheaper. The transfer from the Italo train from Rome to the Italo bus to Sorrento is at Napoli Afragola station, that is a very quite place in the suburbs.

looks pretty bad as graffiti covered.

Are you an art critic? Who cares if some spoiled kid writes on trains to express himself? You won't be asked to clean the Circumvesuviana, don't worry.

Personally, I loved the graffiti on the trains. It's kinda cool looking......It's been several years since we did the train from Naples to Sorrento, but we'll be going again in June and we don't have a problem taking the trains. imho. We did hire a driver from the Train station in Naples to take us to Praiano. Unfortunately he drove super slow and talked excessively, and we were all extremely tired from traveling overnight and continued on the train in the morning. Other drivers were honking and tail-gating, etc., and he wouldn't shut up. This coming trip we'll be hiring a driver as well, but I want to make sure that the driver gets us to our hotel in a timely manner and that we don't want a 'tour'. It takes long enough along the Amalfi Coast to drive, we just don't want it to take longer than it needs to be.

beth,

Taking the high speed train from Rome to Naples will be a much quicker solution. No private driver can match 300 km/h! When you arrive at Napoli Centrale you could....

  • hire a private driver to your hotel in Sorrento (will be much cheaper than by driving from Rome). Have a look at THIS service to see whether it might work for you.
  • depending on time of year, you could take the Campania Express which is a tourist train with more comforts than the Circumvesuviana.
  • take the Circumvesuviana from Napoli Garibaldi (just downstairs from Centrale), which is a commuter train so it's not fancy by any means. While it's a bit "colourful" with graffiti and so on, it will get you there.
  • take a taxi from Napoli Centrale to the airport (it's a fairly short trip) and use the Curreri Viaggi bus to Sorrento. I believe they also offer a private transfer service.
