I'd like to visit the Aeolian Islands next May after spending about two weeks circling Sicily. My instructions are to find someplace beautiful, easy, and relaxing before we make our way home. I was thinking we'd base in Lipari and take day trips to other islands. How many nights would you spend there?

We are going to Sicily and on to the Aeolian Islands as well in May. I am planning 4 nights in Lipari, giving us one full day for Lipari and then two days for trips to other islands.
Two nights or more. Lipari has a historic center but also lots of beaches with good accommodations further out.
Main islands to hop are Panarea, Stromboli and Vulcano. You can't visit all three in one day and really see all of them. There are other islands in the group as well.
Thanks Laurel and Zoe! Your advice makes a lot of sense to me. I think we are going to take the 4 night, 3 day approach. In addition to the islands Zoe mentioned I'm looking forward to seeing Salina and tasting their Malvasia wine.
