I am traveling to Europe and I am thinking spent 7 day in Italy. I am planning to stay 3 day at Venice and 4 day at Rome. Is it enough? Should I stay more at Venice and less in Rome?
no.. I would stay more in Rome and less in Venice.. There are so many sights in Rome.. you could spend 5-7 days there easily.
Agree. Rome has many more sights. Venice is fun, but very touristy. 2 days there should be about right. In Rome, would try to stay near Piazza Navona, the Pantheon or Campo di Fiori. These areas are very scenic with lots of great pedestrian only streets.
It depends on what interests you. I'll add a contrary view. I love the ambiance of Venice. I am happy just being there. I've enjoyed being in the crowds during Carnevale and sitting in a cafe and people-watching. I love the museums in Rome but I don't enjoy being in the city.
It is true that for a first-time visit, Rome certainly has more "important" sights than Venice.
There are many parts of Venice that aren't touristy tho - pretty much the trail from Rialto to San Marco will be packed and along the Grand Canal in the SM area. Murano and Burano can be as well.
But most of the rest of Venice - once you walk about 5 min away from that R-SM trail is lovely and way less crowded. I've spent 10 nights in Rome over two visits, and 10 nights in Venice over 4 visits! There is much to do in both. I'd prob leave it at 4 Rome and 3 Venice...the travel from Rome to Venice, including checking in and out of accoms will eat up a good half day. If you only did 2 days in Venice, you will miss much.
I would say a week in Rome or a week in Venice.
So much to see, so little time.
Are you counting your arrival and departure days in your 7 day total? What about the day you move between the two?
Where are you arriving from, where are you departing to? How?
