I've reserved the 2:30 tour on June 30, the day after the June 29 holiday. Please advise me how early we need to be there to pick up tickets with a paid voucher?
Thanks! Let me know if you think differently after you get there! Have fun!
Twenty-30 minutes should suffice. I'm taking a Vatican Gardens tour tomorrow and my voucher says to arrive 20 minutes in advance.
Linda, May I ask which tour you've reserved? My son and I will be in Rome 6/27 to 7/1. Also, do you know of any specific events on the holiday that you're going to check out? Thanks!
Jim
I reserved the tour offered by the Vatican of the Museums and Sistine Chapel. I read a lot of posts and I think for my teenaged kids this version will be good for them as opposed to something longer and more expensive. (http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/z-Info/MV_Info_Servizi_Visite.html) We land on the 29th so we won't be there for much of the holiday. We booked a Colliseum/Forum tour with WheninRomeTours.
I just googled 'St Peter and Paul Day' rome closings and found two interesting hits from TripAdvisor. They are old but maybe still hold for this year. Sounds like the mass is very meaningful for some. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k1035311-l6212911-St_Peter_and_Paul_Day_June_29-Rome_Lazio.html http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k979279-June_29_holiday_concerns-Rome_Lazio.html
An from today's Vatican gardens tour: always wanting to be where I need to be ahead of time (and also wanting to get to the bathroom), this morning I presented my voucher 45 minutes in advance and was told by the guard to come back 30 minutes in advance--he wouldn't let me in. So, I appeared 15 minutes later and didn't have any problems getting through.
The guards won't let you in more than 20 minutes or so in advance. You'll have plenty of time to exchange your voucher if you get there 20 minutes early. They put you right in at the door and then you go through security. It takes less than 10 minutes. Donna
This is so helpful! Thanks, ya'll!
