Hi, has anyone stayed in Porlezza or nrarby Cressogno in Summer? We loved staying in Ascona and 2 yrs later in (cheaper) Cannobio - both on nearby Lake Maggiore - and are looking to enjoy similar size and feel on Lugano, but with Italian not Swiss prices!
We're researching Porlezza and the stretch around Cima as a scenic Italian-priced alternative to tempting Morcote, which looks too small (compared to Cannobio or Ascona).
We'll be self catering (July, 2 weeks) and won't have a car. Bus and train links important. Keen to visit Morcote and Gandria and to revisit Varenna and Bellagio - all by ferry/bus/train.
All thoughts welcome re Porlezza/Cima/Cressogno as an atmospheric and particularly beautiful base (?) with hillside apartment options/stunning lake views and plenty of eateries and bathing options.
Thank you!
