How do you "Call Collect" from Italy

Hi all, So I've seen this in RS's book, and on all my credit cards: "outside the US, call collect on..." Well, I need to call my credit card company. I don't have a US phone with me. I've tried to call on my calling card from my Italian cell, and that gives me a 50 cent per minute rate. Since I'll be on hold for a while, and then dealing with the issue for a while, this free call could cost me a bundle! I've also tried the payphones on the street, but there seems to be no way to make a collect call. Any suggestions?

From a land line phone dial 800-172-444 That is the number for an AT&T international operator. When the system asks for the number you are calling press 0 for the operator

Use a calling center, usually part of an internet cafe, which are easy to find in the big cites.

I always carry an AT&T calling card that I purchase from Wal-Mart. They are about $20 for 500 minutes (those are domestic minutes - fewer international minutes.)
Before I go on trip, I go to the AT&T website and look up the international access codes for the countries I will visit and print the info. Then when I want to call home for any reason. I use a public phone, or the phone in my room and the calling card. The minutes never expire - I have a card right now that is about 3 or 4 years old and have used it in several countries........ easy method for me.
