I purchased a Trenitalia ticket last night. I see this charge on my credit card, currently "pending." However, after I went through the purchase process, it never brought me to any confirmation page nor did anything suggest the purchase even went through other than the pending transaction on my card. Also, I have not received any emails.
How do I find my ticket?
The charges usually go through right away and an email is sent with an attachment that has a document with your PRN number and a barcode. Have you looked to see if you received any emails or text from your credit card company asking you to confirm the purchase is not fraud? This has happened to me numerous times when I am attempting to purchase my train tickets for France and Italy and I usually just confirm and asked to try again and the purchase will go through.
Ahhh. I just checked again and it looks like Trenitalia refunded me for the order. Not sure what happened.
I booked with Italoreno instead. Imo, Italoreno is so much easier to book (and cheaper).
It's probably your credit card company's security algorithm. I've had Italian car rental reservations declined (with a US card) even though I called the CC company to tell them it's coming. The same trouble as you with Trenitalia but now I use Paypal with them and it has worked with no problem.
