I am taking two friends to Perugia to the outlets. Luisa Spagnoli to be specific. Can I take a train there and then to Rome or should we stay in Peruga? I can't seem to figure this out. Thanks.
Carolyn, I'm not sure what you're referring to by "the outlets"? As this is your primary interest, I'd suggest spending a few days in Perugia It's easily accessible from Roma (travel time ~2H:45M each way via direct train). The travel time is not that great, but would be a bit excessive for a day trip (IMHO). Happy travels!
Thank you for your kindness. Last year I spent three weeks in Italy with my mother and sister. At the end of the trip I discovered my new favorite designer Luisa Spagnoli. I heart that there is an outlet store in Perugia. I have worked extra hours just to spend my hard earned money on the Luisa store. Any suggestions?
Where to stay? have you ever been there?
To answer your question, there are several trains daily from Florence to Perugia. It takes about 2:15 or so. there are direct trains as well as some with one train change. I would suggest staying at least couple of nights in Perugia. It looks like the outlet is attached to the factory which is on the outskirts. Staying over will let you relax and shop without rushing.
Hi Carolyn, I'd stay in Perugia and spend at least a little time exploring its old town up on the hill. It may not be the top of most people's list of must-see hill towns in Umbria, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're going to be there anyway.
Carolyn, I wasn't paying attention when I posted my first reply, so missed the fact that you're travelling from Florence and not Rome. Ron provided the information that I missed. Current Second class fares on that trip are €10.65. Cheers!
