How do I get between Florence and Naples on the Cheap?

Effective January 24, 2011, you'll be able to travel between Florence and Naples for some extremely low fares, thanks to Trenitalia's new "MINI" advance purchase promotional fares. On the hourly high-speed Frecciarossa and Frecciargento trains, the "MINI" fare will be as low as 29 Euros (but could be higher), compared to the standard "base" fare of 71 Euros (a savings of nearly 60%). These trains connect Florence and Naples in merely three hours, and there is even one train per day which does the trip in just over 2.5 hours (by transiting through Roma Tiburtina Station instead of Termini Station). There are also a small handful of Intercity (IC) trains (which depart from and arrive at the Florence RIFREDI station), where the "MINI" fare can be as low as 16 Euros (but could be higher), compared to the standard "base" fare of 41 Euros (a savings of 61%). Before booking the "MINI" fare, carefully read the rules and restrictions, particularly concerning reservations changes and refunds. Since these promotional fares are capacity controlled, the sooner you are able to book (but no more than four months in advance), the greater the odds of securing the lowest fare. http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=38a304ae4f9ec210VgnVCM1000003f16f90aRCRD Trenitalia assures FAST, FREQUENT, and CHEAP connections between Florence and Naples. www.ferroviedellostato.it

Keep in mind, though, that most people have been unable to use an American credit card on their website.
