How can I get into Italy from the UK?

I have seen numerous articles the few past weeks saying that Americans can get to Italy by quarantining in the UK for 2 weeks first- stating that the Italian government tool for COVID survey declares it eligible to enter Italy if Americans undergo this process.

But I’ve seen no instruction and I am a first time traveller who desperately needs to know if and how I can do this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming you could do this, and be aware that each country changes its rules daily, what would you see and do while you are there?
Are you a tourist, or are you going for an urgent reason, family, etc.
Not much street life, the joy of Italy, left; many cafes and restaurants closed, some attractions and museums closed too.
All the things that make Italy so wonderful are mostly on hold now.
I’m not sure it’s the best time to travel anywhere for a first trip.
Just my two cents.

Be aware, as of this past weekend, all restaurants and bars in Italy must close at 6 PM. It is expected to be like this for a month.

You need to contact the closest Italian consulate to you to get the best information. Don't rely on what people here say.

If not literally true, its so close there is no meaningful difference.

You need to contact the closest Italian consulate to you to get the best information. Don't rely on what people here say.

Impossible to over emphasize the above advice

With the news about how cases are on the increase, travel for purely leisure purposes, should be seriously thought out.

Isn't there wording about limiting entry to 'essential travel"? Many countries are stating this as a requirement.
As a first time traveler, this is really a trial by fire and vast learning curve. I hope it is a trip that is imperative to take.
Assuming that you need to board plane with a valid PCR test, ensure you can get a test near you with a result in the time limit required by airline and country. I know I would have trouble getting a result and arrive in the east within 72 hours....and I work in covid lab world.....and have seen a number of people intending to travel with non symptomatic positive results. So also be sure you can cancel and get a refund on flights and everything else related to the travel.
