How can I figure out what cable cars are open October 5?

My husband and I will be spending just day or 2 in the Dolomites. We arrive the evening of October 4 and are planning to spend the night in Cortina d'Amperzzo and was hoping to take a cable car there. Then planning to drive the Great Dolomite Road and spending the night in Ortisei and hoping to take at least one cable car there. Then leaving there and heading to the Stelvio Pass.

Does anyone have recommendations on what cable cars to take and when they close? Thank you!

I am guessing that you are looking for recommendations for cable cars from Cortina d'Amperzzo for sightseeing. Here is a link to Tofana Cortina, which should take you up to Bus de Tofana: https://www.freccianelcielo.com/en/

The site could give timetable specifics for your dates. But they are always weather dependant.

Also, before you head to Stelvio, check to see if it is even open. It could be closed by early October. Typically open in October but best to check ahead of schedule as it depends on the weather.

Between Cortina and Ortisei, the Lagazuoi cable car runs until Oct. 20, 2024. We’ve done this trip.

There’s no need to drive “The Great Dolomite Road”. I’d go from Cortina to Ortisei, stop at Lagazuoi, then via the Gardena Pass. Don’t miss this pass! It amazing.

If you want to, near the end (nearing Val Gardena) of the Gardena Pass, you’ll find the turn off onto the Sella Pass, it branches off the Gardena. You could take this until the cafe/rest stop. Amazing views from here. Then just head back onto the Gardena Pass to Ortisei.

Thank you so much! If we take the Lagazoui cable car up, can we also return down on it? While the tunnels look really interesting, I’m not sure I feel comfortable hiking them.

Yes, you can take the cable car up and down. It’s what we did.
