How best to get from Poisitano to Padua

I am hoping to go to a cooking school in Positano next year, and would like to then do Rick Steves 14 day hill country venture which begins in Padua. How would I best travel between the two points and roughly how long does it take? Anyone have an answer and if I had to stay one night in Padua, does anyone know a nice inexpensive place? Thank you. Barry.

One good way to do it would be to take a hydrofoil from Positano to Salerno, then an express train from Salerno to Padua. The train goes via Rome, where you have to change trains. The entire train journey is 5 1/2 hours. The hydrofoil from Positano to Salerno takes 45 minutes.
