How bad is the drive from Cortina to Ortisei?

Hi,
Planning a trip to the Dolomites September. We’ve gone from Vail to Aspen through Leadville over the continental divide but I really did not like the drive over Independence pass. It was pretty white knuckle for me. Would the drive from Cortina to Ortisei be as bad as that?

I am not sure why you took the high road (other than for the scenery) from Vail to Aspen. Cortina to Ortisei is an easy drive and a good road in good weather. But the road is very winding with hairpin turns, and there will be traffic. You can do the same trip by bus too. There are several passes (Passo Falzaregio, Grodner Joch). Pause and go up some of the gondolas at the passes (Passo Falzaregio up to Mt Laguzoi for example, etc).

Thanks Nick! Sounds quite manageable. Yes, we took the scenic route—not doing that again, LOL!
