Hotels recommendations Lake Como

We are traveling to Lake Como in May. Husband & wife. Many trips to Italy but not Lake Como. Would appreciate recommendations where to stay. What towns. Thank you

Varenna is a nice town to visit and can be easily reached via train from Milan.
Once you’re there, you can take a ferry and visit the other mid- lake villages such as. Bellagio, Menaggio, etc...

My mom and I enjoyed our stay at Albergo Milano. We stayed in one of their apartments and it was great since it included the delicious breakfast served on the terrace of the hotel overlooking the lake.

Enjoy your trip!

We love Hotel Bellagio, in of course, Bellagio. I think Bellagio is more vibrant of the town than Varenna but more information about what you are looking for in a town & hotel would be helpful.

We also like Varenna and Albergo Milano. We have been there twice and would happily go again.

The room we like is the top floor room in Casa Rossa, a few buildings away from the main hotel. The room is large, bright, and has a kit hen corner and large lakefront balcony with a table. It is not for everyone, as you must climb four flights of stairs to reach it, but we love the room.

Breakfast Innthe main hotel is included. Dinnernonnthe hotelmterraceb(Ristorante La Vista) is not included, but is very nice.

I'd also recommend staying in Varenna as it's a beautiful, smaller town and a great place to stay while exploring the mid-lake region.

Some of the hotels you could look at are Albergo Milano (as already mentioned), Hotel Royal Victoria, Hotel Villa Cipressi or Hotel Olivedo.

If you don't have it already, the RS Italy guidebook will provide lots of information not only on hotels but also sightseeing in that area.

Varenna is a lovely place to stay and explore the area. As for hotels, check out Hotel Villa Cipressi. Really nice place to stay.

I love Varenna (just across the lake from Bellagio and its beautiful gardens, but less rich). We loved the Albergo Milano, but after encountering two heat waves in May, would probably return to the Hotel du Lac, which is air-conditioned and has a lovely restaurant on the Lake.
