hotels on amalfi coast

does anyone recommend a particular hotel that has a great view of the amalfi coast, good service, and reasonably priced (max $200 per night)?

I don't think that you'll find one in that price range. Try the hotel buca di bacco in Positano.

Hi Dana,

The hotels on the Amalfi Coast are pretty steep. A friend of mine stayed at Hotel California in Positano and loved it. I think that is priced right at your limit.

My husband and I stayed at Punta Civita in Ravello. It's technically a B&B I believe, but it was very private. Each room has a balcony overlooking the ocean, the rooms are immaculate, the hosts are salt of the earth people, and the price was great (110 euros). Breakfast (included) was typical Italian breads, rolls, coffee, juice, yogurt, but you could purchase omelets and other items. There is no restaurant or pool though.

Enjoy your time there!

I can recommend this one on its own beach in Positano. In high season it's become more expensive than you want. Another suggestion is the Pensione Maria Luisa in Positano.

For a three night stay in June paying cash, I'm paying 126 Euro for Settimo Cielo in Sorrento.

We just returned from a trip from the Amalfi Coast. We stayed in Praiano at Hotel Margherita. Room were affordable. Hosts very nice and helpful in every way. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Prainao is about 11 miles away from Postiano. We liked it because it is quieter than Amalfi or Pristano. The buses to Pristona are fairly frequent. We took a bus to Pristano than a ferry to Capri. It was very convienent. We had a car. When we went to Amalfi and Ravello the next day we drove. I was very happy to have the car. Getting around in a bus can take time just waiting for a bus. We saw more because we had the car. I liked the quiet in Praiano and loved the hotel. Just beware buses do take time to get a round in. I found the driving not as bad as some had stated but the parking is very hard to find, but that is Italy.

Hotel Centrale in Amalfi is that price. I understand from my cousin who lives there that it has great views of the sea

La Tavelozzo in Positano great view and balcony on first level-stayed there 3 years ago. You can take the local bus 1E to Amalfi- another bus up to Ravello for the day and come back by Ferry ( breathtaking) Celeste, and her daughters run this place and are most helpful. She even arranged a van to pick us up our last night there to take us to a restaurant very high up in the hills. Excellent- it was a bit late so could not see the view but worth it. She is only charging 90E as per Rick's book. It is a B&B but it is in the heart of Positano on the main road. If you are driving she will arrange if asked a parking spot in the garage down the hill. This area is worth at least 3 days. Enjoy

I second Shelleys suggestion of La Tavelozzo in Positano. I stayed in room 4... absolutely stunning private terrace view over-looking the city & the sea. 90 EURO can't be beat! I have visited the Amalfi Coast three times and La Tavelozzo is by far the best view I've seen. Happy travels!

You could try Hotel La Reginella on Viale Pasitea 154. The rate I got from them for Oct. 2009 was 110 euros a night.
