We are looking into booking either 17 or 10 day Italy tour. Everything looks great but no hotels are listed. Can anybody share which hotels were used in the past? I understand that hotels won't be confirmed till booking, but wanted to get an ideal of where they book rooms.
Here were our hotels for the 17 Day Best of Italy tour.
Varenna. Royal Victoria
Dolomites. Hotel Seel Aus
Venice. Hotel Mercurio
Florence. Hotel California
Cinque Terre. Hotel Villa Steno
Sienna. Hotel Chiusarelli
Orvietta. Altarocca Wine Resort
Rome. Hotel Aberdeen
I hope you chose the 17 Day Best of Italy Tour. We just loved it.
I put together two 10 minute videos on YouTube about our tour. They will show you what it was like on the tour.
If you have any questions, you can send me a personal message.
I took the 17 Day Best of Italy tour this past October and we stayed in all the hotels David listed except for Venice and Varenna. It was Hotel Serenissimo (sp.) and Varenna on Lake Como, Hotel Caprissi (sp.). They were all delightful and my tour mates overall were pleased. They were centrally located and 3 or 4 star hotels.
This tour was the trip of a lifetime - enjoy!

Yosemite1, in your youtube video, there's a picture of you and your wife eating at 'her favorite restaurant in Florence', looks like on the Arno. What is the name of it? Thanks!
It is called "The Golden View." I highly recommend it. Our daughter did a semister abroad in Florence and she told us about it. You will need reservations months in advance if you plan on eating after 8:00 pm. We got there around 6:30 without a reservation and got a table at the window. The waiter told us we needed to finish by 8:30 as the table was reserved then. If you don't want to do dinner there, they serve lunch as well. The food was very good and the prices were really reasonable.
Here are the hotels from when I went on the 17 day Best of Italy tour:
Villa Cipressi, Varenna
Pension Seelaus, Seiser Alm
Hotel Mercurio, Venice
Hotel California, Florence
Hotel Villa Steno, Monterosso al Mare
Hotel Chiusarelli, Siena
Agriturismo Poggio della Volara, Montecchio
Hotel Sonya, Rome
All were very nice. All had air conditioning except the first 2 where it was not needed the days we were there.
I took the 9 day Heart of Italy Tour last summer. It wasn't 17 or 10 days, but it will give you some ideas...
-Rome: Hotel Aberdeen
-Volterra: Albergo Villa Nencini
-Levanto: Albergo Primavera
-Florence: Hotel Torre Guelfa
I had an amazing time and think RS does a great job with the Italy tours, so I highly recommend them!
