Hotels Northeast of Termini in Rome

Based on some great reviews on Trip Advisor, I am considering staying at a hotel Northeast of Termini in Rome. It is called Welrome Hotel. But looking at Rick's book, he says some people find that area weird and spooky after dark. Does anyone have any knowledge of this area? Is it safe, or should I be concerned and spend a few more euros and look elsewhere? Many of the hotels recommended on this site and in Rick's book are already full for the time frame we are going to Rome, but this hotel is available. Thanks!

Why don't you send a personal message to some of the people that posted on TA? Tell them your concern, and ask them about the area. We have done that when we were unsure about something, or needed more info. Most of them are more than happy to help you in any way that they can!

When we were in Rome a few weeks ago, we walked all over the area around the rain station, day and night, and never felt "un-safe".

I've stayed in this area a couple of times and found it as safe as the rest of Rome, even at night. I would check reviews of the hotel itself to see if is an ok place. There are lots of budget hotels north of Termini.

Thanks for the info. There were 14 reviews of this hotel on TA and all were very positive. I am still searching other Rome hotels, but many of the recommended ones from Rick that I liked are already booked. I think I would prefer to be a little more central, but I'll keep this hotel on my short list for now.

Have you tried www.cross-pollinate.com? That's how I found my budget lodgings in Rome when I had given up hope of finding something affordable that was available. The one I picked is actually just West of Termini, but I think they have lodgings all around Rome.
