Are there any hotel recommendations for a one night stay before our departure flight near (or at) the Venice airport? Would really like to stay on site, but web says that is not available. A short shuttle would be fine. Thanks all ....

We stayed at the BW Titian Inn Hotel Venice Airport the night before our departure. It worked out perfectly.
We were able to store our luggage at our previous accommodation for the day, which we spent touring around Venice a bit more. Then, we caught a bus from P. Roma, and there was a stop right in front of this hotel.
Our flight was early, so we used the hotel shuttle to get to the airport. A bonus was that the BW Titian Inn starts serving the included breakfast really early (4:00 a.m., if I recall correctly), so we were able to eat breakfast before we left.

There's a Marriott Courtyard about a five minute taxi ride from the airport. Even tho the hotel is very close, it's not IN the airport, and not walkable. We stayed there a few years ago when we had a late arriving flight. At that time, the hotel had a shuttle, but did not run all night. Hope this helps. Have a great trip !
