I will be travelling out of the Venice airport on a 7 AM flight and I wondering where the best place would be to stay. I'm assuming that public transportation could be a problem at 4 AM in the morning. Are you pretty much locked into taxis and is there a better place to stay on the mainland. Thanks.

We had a 7am flight also and we just bit the bullet and hired a private water taxi. Although the public transportation does start very very early.

The Alilaguna boat which takes you to the airport begins running pretty early.

Hi Dan. My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard just around the corner from the airport.We booked our room at the small travel agency at the Santa Lucia Train Station in Venezia.... the hotel complimentary shuttle service got us to our 7a.m. flight in plenty of time for our check in.. Great rooms!!..brand new and completly spotless.( They do provide a AAA discount.) After a two week vacation I cannot tell you how wonderful that huge deep tub and that spectacular bed with crisp white sheets and tons of fluffy pillows felt..AMAZING!! I can highly recommend it!!
