Going to Rome in a few months and we are looking for decent hotels near the Vatican.

What distance from the Vatican is fine with you? A friend of mine stayed at Residenza Paolo VI - its just the opposite to Vatican. However the price was crazy high at that time.

This is a perfect opportunity to explore using Booking.com. You can zero in using the map and look at location and price as well as availability in one place.

I’ve stayed at Palazzo Cardinal Cesi and would stay there again. Clean, comfortable rooms and decent food. Steps to the Vatican.

Lookup Santa Maria alle Fornachi a former Convent 5 Minutes from the Vatican. It's our "go to" place to stay when I fly into Rome. The San Pietro Metro Stop is right behind it-You take the train from FCO, exit at the Testreveri(?) stop, buy a ticket and then take the Metro to San Pietro. Also, good restaurants, close by.

Hotel Museum is a two minute walk to the Vatican Museum entrance. My room last year had a view of the back of the Vatican. Breakfast is up on an indoor terrace (in March). The staff is cheerful and helpful. I prefer to book direct with the hotel, I feel it makes better relations and avoids any 3rd party cut into profits.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Museum last April. Very comfortable place and helpful staff. Easy walk to the metro and lots of moderately priced restaurants nearby. Plus, you are literally across the street and up a flight of stairs to the Vatican entrance.

We stayed at Hotel Museum on our RS Heart of Italy Tour. Nice place. Has a big area for guests to linger and a small bar to get some beverages. Great Terrace breakfast area. Laundry for 8 euro 2 blocks away. you will have a blast!

Safe travels
