My husband and I have business near the Vatican in October. We've stayed in Rome on a previous trip, but near the Spanish Steps. Does anyone have any recommendations about a hotel close to Vatican City?

I stayed at the Hotel Bramante in May 2006. It's in the book. A little spendier than some hotels but a great location about a three minute walk to St. Peters.

I stayed at the Hotel Alimandi and found it acceptable. The roof garden is a nice place to have breakfast.

We also stayed at the Bramante Hotel June 8-10th. Nice little place with a great breakfast and extremely convenient to the Vatican. We visited St. Peter's early in the morning with hardly anyone else there and beautiful sun streaming through the windows.

We stayed at the Starhotel Michelangelo which is very close to The Vatican. We would stay there again. Check it out on venere.com.

A friend of mine swears by Hotel la Revere. I like to stay on the Pza Navona side, but she loves this hotel for its proximity to the Vatican.
