Any suggestions. I read trip advisor, and wonder if these people even stayed at the same hotel. We're thinking maybe the Valadier, Homs, Locarno, Raffaello. or La Lumierre. We'd like a 3 or 4 star, good location and rooftop terrace. Clean would be good too!

Just curious why you want to stay there? I found it to be extremely crowded,loaded with street venders pushing flowers,etc, not really near the train station or other major sites. Gues that's what makes the world go around

I've stayed in the Spagna area at least 6 times. If your hotel is not on the Piazza Spagna, and it is not in the v. Condotti shopping area, there are no crowds and very little traffic noise, assuming that you are on a ped only street. I've had a drink at the Locarno and I checked out the rooftop. Nice hotel, 1/2 mile from Pz Spagna. Nice view from the terrace, although there are better rooftop drinks in Rome. The hotel is a block from pz Popolo and it's excellent restaurant, Dal Bolognese with plenty of buzz. Staying at the Locarno will entail some walking (on quiet little streets if you like): it is (approx) 1 mile from Navonna, 2/3 mile from the Pantheon. If there are buses, I have no idea.
