We want to stay in a hotel near the port of Civitavecchia the night before our cruise. I searched RS website and most advice was to stay in Rome. We will be in Rome later in the trip so prefer a nice hotel near the port to rest from our long flight. I would appreciate any recommendations from those who have done this. Thanks

We were there in 2014, so the recommendation may not stand up to the test of time, but we stayed here for two nights before our cruise. It's very basic, but the service was outstanding. Breakfast was included and we had a balcony that we could see the cruise ships from. https://www.hoteltraghetto.it/

Civit... is mostly an industrial city and port. Really very little around the port area in accommodations. Unless you book a private driver/limo to Civit... you will have to go into Rome and then take the train to Civit..... I don't think you gain much from staying in Civit... for a couple of nights. I would stay in Rome and take the train on the day your board. That is what we have done for four trips.
