My husband and I will be in Lucca for 10 days and then go to the airport in Pisa to fly to Brindisi. We would take the train from Lucca to Pisa the day before. Our flight leaves midmorning and we would prefer to stay at a hotel easily accessible to the airport. I have looked online but many hotels only offered shared bathrooms and we prefer to have our own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks You. Judy Y.
Forgot to ask. I have never traveled on a small intra country airlines. Anything I should know? Judy Y.
Hi Judy. In 2011 we stayed at a B&B called Michele's Guest House. It is very close to the train station, which offers quick and easy access to the airport. We also flew out of Pisa, but our flight was very early (check-in time was before the trains started running) so Michele drove us to the airport in his own car. We would definitely stay there again if need be, as the rooms were nicer and larger than several hotels we have stayed at in Italy. Here's their website... http://www.guest-house.it/
If you're ever needing a room in a specific place, just sign into Googlemaps.com. If you magnify the map almost to the highest resolution, you can slide back and forth to see the local accommodations. Why stay at the Pisa airport. Lucca has a shuttle to the Pisa airport. With your flight in mid-morning there are possibilities with the shuttle.
Pisa is only a few minutes from the Pisa airport. Sleep in Pisa and take the train to the airport. Train tickets should be available in vending machines.
Thank you all for your comments. We will definitely look into the suggested accommodations. After staying in Lucca for 10 days, we thought we would take this opportunity to spend the day before our flight out to take a quick look around Pisa. We just might put it on our agenda for our next trip! Judy Y
