Hotels near Pantheon

While I'm in Rome I thought I'd stay around the Pantheon. I love the ambiance of the area, especially at night. I've whittled it down 3 choices, all with that "RS character" (charm, a certain worn elegance, comfortable, and a decent value). I'm wondering what experiences anyone has at staying at any of them? They are:
Albergo Santa Chiara
Hotel Navano
Hotel Portoghesi

We stayed at the hotel Portoghesi last November. Nice clean place. Very nice little breakfast in a very nice breakfast room. Typically small room and very small shower. All very expected. Staff was professional and nice enough. I will say, our room had the hardest bed I have slept on in my life. I hardly got any sleep. I know that is a very personal preference. Location was most excellent. I guess I would give it another chance if I am lucky enough to be in Rome again, but that bed really got to me. Oh, and don't fall for the taxi scam from the train station. We thought we were smart travelers... apparently, not smart enough! He dropped us across town from the hotel (saying " the hotel is just up this small street and I can't drive up to it" ) He did not charge us too crazy a price but still we were scammed and made for a very long day! We had to walk a long way, dragging luggage around. Thanks to many kind Italians, we finally made it to the hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Abruzzi in Rome on our first trip. Our windows looked out at the Piazza della Rotunda and the front of the Pantheon!

The room was quiet with the windows closed, but I loved watching the people and earlier in the evening when I had the windows open and was watching waiting for hubby to take his shower, some of the tourists waved to me and I to them. HaHa they were taking my picture which is not what I was going for. Oh, well.

It was at 3:30 in the morning when I got up to go to the bathroom that I peeked out the window and no one was around. What a view!
I would stay here again. Now, they didn't have a breakfast room, but each morning the front desk person would give us a pass for a continental breakfast at a little place right across the piazza. We sat there outside and ate and gazed at the Pantheon some more.

It was a great area and if you want a restaurant recommendation, send me a PM. We walked away from the Piazza and took a side street and found a nice little trattoria that had no other tourists and had a nice, quiet meal. We both still remember it fondly.

Have a Great Trip

I settled on Hotel Due Torri after having a second look. It's well tucked away yet near enough to the Pantheon area. Pay to ask, thanks.

I had the same exact thought when I was in Italy a few years back and wanted to be by the Pantheon! However, I was not loving all of Steves' recommendations and wanted the absolute best bang for my buck I could get.

I found the Panethon Inn which is everything you are describing :) It is actually in a building that was once the home of Garibaldi! It was quiet at night because to get to the hotel, you had to enter through a front gate and into a secluded courtyard. I also made sure to ask for a quiet, higher-floor room (we do not mind stairs). I booked really, really far in advance so I got an early bird discount that made the price so cheap for how amazing the location is! You can email them to ask about specials, ask about their lift (they do have one), a quiet room, or whatever is important to you. One of their rooms has a balcony.

Was it the MOST comfortable bed ever? Nah. But, it was super charming, great customer service and I would 100% stay there again. Here is website: https://www.pantheoninn.com/en/

Highly recommend the Hotel Navona. Right near the Piazza Navona, and close to Pantheon. Great staff, rooms, breakfast and it has a lift.
