Hotels near Malpensa Airport

My flight back to the US leaves at 7:30 am on July 4, 2010. Any suggestions for a hotel - with easy access to airport.
Not sure if they have hotel-to-airport shuttles. I know I could travel from Milan proper but unless it is too cost prohibitive, I would like to be near the hotel with a shuttle or short taxi ride.

FYI, I will be leaving from Verona as the last stop of my visit.

My husband and son have a reservation at the Hotel Cervo Malpensa for late May which will cost E90 including breakfast--although I suspect they won't be serving breakfast as early as they will need it! The hotel shuttle begins at 5:00 or a taxi will probably cost about E17 (that's expensive considering they could walk since the airport's so close!) Their flight is at 6:55 so I don't know if they'll want to take the chance on the shuttle or arriving a bit earlier by paying for a taxi.
PS: Hmmm, now that I've read more reviews, I'm reconsidering their reservation....Maybe First Hotel would be a better choice.

The Cervo's quality is notoriously hit or miss. Best to check recent reviews on Tripadvisor. The last time I stayed there, it was fine, but I stayed on the second floor and didn't need the shuttle since we turned in our rental car before our early morning departure.

We had to leave so early in the morning they didn't have breakfast out, but they did have coffee.

It would be great if anyone with recent experience at the Cervo could add to the string of responses I linked to above.

You need to do a search on this site. This question has been answered dozens of times but I don't remember the recommendations. Milan is an hour by shuttle bus from the Central train station and about 30 mins by rail from the other train station. It probably would be most convenient and a bit expensive to stay near the airport but that is probably you best arrangement.

Thanks for the input and the link to the previous posts. I forgot to ask how do I get to the area hotels. I will be using the train to Milan. Then how do I reach the hotels?

Only one person mentioned that the Hotel Tre Leone was walking distance from the train station, but she had a poor review of the hotel and noted that Rick had eliminated it from his book in 2008.

Does one take the train TO the airport and then request a shuttle to the hotel for the overnight stay?

Hotels that provide shuttles to the airport will also pick you up from there. You just need to take either the bus or train from Milan. The bus runs from Milan's Centrale station (where you'll arrive from Verona) and the train leaves from the Cardona station which is a subway ride from Centrale. If you don't plan to sightsee in Milan, I'd take the bus.

I recommend the Hotel Berna just about 2 blocks from the Centrale train station.
It was great and if I go back to Milan I would stay there again.
A solo female traveler - I felt very safe walking around the hotel area day or night.

I was able to get up early and wheel my bag to the train station and hope the shuttle bus to the airport.
