We will be returning to Rome by rental car for our flight back to the states. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive,good hotel close to airport.

I looked into that and the few hotels out there all looked horribly overpriced! I think there's a Hilton or something that is linked to the airport (and was something like $300 a night when I checked, if I am remembering correctly) but otherwise I think you'd need transportation from your hotel to the airport. Can you drop the car off the day of your flight or do you absolutely need to stay overnight by the airport? Sorry that wasn't too helpful, but if you're having trouble finding something, we did too and ended up just staying in Rome
