hotels near centrale train station in milan

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a hotel near the Centrale train station in Milan? I have been looking at tripadvisor.com and am seeing bad reviews for most of the two to three star hotels around the station (Kennedy, Valley, Amadeus, etc). Looking for a good hotel that's under 75-100 euros. Thanks!

For what it is worth, if you are staying, as we did, near Centrale to catch an early bus to the airport; verify with the Hotel that there will be someone on duty to see you out. We found out at the first hotel that there would not be, and at the one we stayed at, the owner who lived on site had to get up to let us out. This would be more common with the smaller 2 and 3 star places.

Hi Elizabeth, We were very happy with the Hotel Berna, one of RS recommended hotels within a short walking distance of Milano Centrale and I've noticed on this helpline that many others liked it too. The room rate really varied on Venere.com depending on what month that you booked. It was very affordable in mid Sept. and much more expensive in late Oct. due to convention/ fashion month. One of the very best breakfast buffets of all in our month long trip. Best of luck, Sherry

I'm in the process of doing the same--here's what I have so far...Hotel Cristallo 70+ Euor or Hotel Flora at 125. I also would appreciate input on quality and safety for the train station area hotels-

Thanks!

Thanks! The New York Times Frugal Traveler recommends Hotel Garda - has anyone stayed there?

I think the quality and safety of the hotels around the station is fine. In fact that area looks nicer than the area around Termini in Rome.

Hi Elizabeth,

We stayed at Hotel Berna which is only a couple blocks from the Central Train Station (http://www.hotelberna.com/). It included a full breakfast and internet in the cost. Plus your room has a FREE mini bar (non-alchoholic drinks) which was wonderful. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend checking it out.

Have a great trip!

I would also recommend Hotel Berna, which is very near Centrale. We just stayed here the end of July as we were flying out of Linate. There are very positive reviews at tripadvisor.com. We found Hotel Berna to be extremely comfortable, clean with a wonderful breakfast buffet. We were in the main part of the hotel but I understand Berna Towers are across the street. For 5 people I booked 2 "superior" rooms more than 30 days in advance for the best possible rate, no cancellation allowed. The double room was 110 Euros ($154) and the triple room was 135 Euros ($189) incl. an amazing breakfast buffet. They also have other categories of rooms that are less expensive. We would stay here again if in Milan.
