Any good ideas for hotels in Cinque Terre for early May? Places are filling up, yikes!
I didn't mean a literal hotel, any B&B's that people recommend would be great!
What in the world would happen to the residents of CT if the throngs of tourists ever stopped coming? Would life ever get back to normal as in pre-Rick Steves days?
Hi Kristin,
Last year, we stayed at Vernazza, Italy - Camere Giuliano, (39) 333 341 4792, 0187-821052, e-mail: [email protected]
It was a small guest house perched high above the train station, just 3-4 rooms, but was delightful. Michelle, the wife, is from the US, and her husband, Guiliano, built the place.
Be sure to book in advance, don't forget that May 1st is a holiday in Europe, and that's when we were there last year. The trains were jam-packed with vacationers, but we had a fabulous time.
We can recommend the restaurant "The 2 Pirates", also up the hill from the train station. Great atmosphere and food.
give maria capellini room a look at :):)
For a splurge and an experience that you won't forget, check out La Mala: www.lamala.it. I could describe it, but there are so many Tripadvisor reviews that do a great job of that.
Not sure if you're just looking for recommendations for Vernazza or any of the CT towns but we stayed at a great hotel in Monterosso; Albergo Margherita. It was a very modern, clean & comfortable hotel & the breakfast (included in the rate) was wonderful.
try Francamaria rooms. Great small rooms,(ask for #1 or #2) very few steps(7) and a ringside seat to the piazza. A little noise at night on the weekends, but really a wonderful set of rooms. They will want cash. Jeff
I will second Jeff's posting on Francamaria's. Stayed 4 nights in room 1 last July and we loved it. With such a great view of the square and harbor we were willing to put up with some noise from the square. The church bells start ringing I think at 7 a.m. and who wants to sleep anyhow!
Martina Callo was fantastic in Vernazza. Straight up a few floors on the piazza, but well worth all the gasps as you climb! And you'll keep gasping when you look out the windows.
I heard from all the business owners that Rick is always in town in May. You might want to check out one of the other towns. Vernazza might be a zoo because that is a busy time there! We loved all the villages. Vernazza seems to be a Rick recommend, which means, BUSY and filled with tourists all holding the same blue books!
acasa5terre.it had lots of options including a boat and breakfast!
